T.R.I.N.E.T.R.A — Tactical Research & Intelligence Network for Emerging Technologies, Robotics & Autonomy — is a deep-tech research lab founded in 2026, based in Guwahati, Assam. We build intelligent systems that combine artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous platforms, cybersecurity, and advanced research into one connected ecosystem.

Our work is guided by a single conviction: India must build its own intelligent systems — not buy them from abroad, not copy what already exists, but develop original technology designed for Indian needs, built by Indian engineers, owned by India.

Why We Exist

The problem with depending on others for your own security.

For decades, India has been one of the world's largest importers of defense equipment. Fighter jets, missiles, surveillance systems, communication technology — a significant portion of what India's military uses every day was designed and built by foreign companies in foreign countries. That means foreign governments have significant leverage over India's strategic capability, and India pays a premium in cost and control for systems it does not fully own.

The problem has gotten more urgent as warfare has changed. The conflicts of today and tomorrow are not just fought with tanks and aircraft — they are fought in cyberspace, with autonomous drones, with AI-powered surveillance, and with systems that make decisions faster than any human can. Whoever controls that technology controls the battlefield.

India has the talent, the institutions, and the strategic need to develop that technology at home. What it has lacked is a focused research organization dedicated to doing exactly that — building from first principles, moving fast, and treating the problem with the seriousness it deserves.

That is why T.R.I.N.E.T.R.A exists.

What We Believe

Six beliefs that shape every decision we make.

Technology is not neutral
The AI and autonomous systems being built today will shape the balance of power for the next century. We take that responsibility seriously. We build technology that strengthens India's security and sovereignty, not technology that can be turned against it.

Research without application is incomplete
A great paper that stays in a journal helps no one on the ground. We push our research through to real systems, real deployments, and real outcomes. The test of an idea is not whether it is publishable — it is whether it works in the field.

Security must be designed in, not bolted on
Every system we build is designed from the beginning to operate in adversarial conditions — where someone is actively trying to hack it, jam it, spoof it, or destroy it. Security is not an afterthought. It is the foundation.

India deserves world-class technology built at home
Indian engineers are among the best in the world. The gap between India and the US or China in defense AI is not a talent gap — it is an organization gap, a focus gap, and a funding gap. We are here to close it.

Move at the speed of the threat
Threats evolve faster than bureaucracies. We operate with the speed and adaptability of a startup, not a government department. Fast iteration, honest evaluation, and willingness to change course when evidence demands it.

The best defense is intelligent anticipation
Reacting to threats after they happen is too slow and too costly. We build systems that detect threats before they materialize — in cyberspace, in the air, on the ground, and in orbit — giving decision-makers time to act rather than react.

The people at T.R.I.N.E.T.R.A are researchers, engineers, and builders who came here because the mission matters to them — not because it pays the most or because it was the easiest path.

We work at the intersection of academic rigor and operational urgency. We expect deep technical excellence, honest communication, and a willingness to work on problems that most organizations are not willing to touch.

We are a small team. Every person here has significant responsibility and significant impact. That is by design.

Engineers who care about what they build. Technical excellence matters, but so does understanding why the work matters. We want people who connect both.
Researchers willing to push past the paper. We value academic rigor, but we need researchers who want to see their work deployed, tested, and improved in the real world.
People comfortable with uncertainty. We are working at the frontier. Not everything will work. The ability to learn fast from failure is more valuable than a perfect record.
Anyone who believes India can lead in this space. Optimism backed by hard work. We are not here to complain about what India lacks. We are here to build what it needs.
Where We Are

Guwahati, Assam — Northeast India's strategic heart.

T.R.I.N.E.T.R.A is headquartered at the Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology (GUIST) in Jalukbari, Guwahati. We are not based in Bangalore or Delhi by design — Northeast India is strategically significant, geographically positioned at the junction of South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia, and home to some of the country's most sensitive borders.

Being here puts us close to the operational realities our technology will serve. We are embedded in a university research environment with access to talented students and faculty, while operating with the focus and urgency of an independent organization.
